WEAPONS USED
In the trenches, soldiers were only allowed to have 3 weapons, a rifle, a bayonet, and grenades, yet the war took a twisted turn in events when they started to upgrade on the use of different weapons such as: tanks, machine guns, mortars, artillery, gas, flamethrowers, barbed wire, and even air crafts. The main weapons they used were the machine guns, gas, and the tanks.
The use of these weapons were one of the reasons that this war was a turning point in history.
The use of these weapons were one of the reasons that this war was a turning point in history.
machine guns: The first country to use machine guns was Germany, they were already equipped and ready to go. Soon enough throughout the war, other countries began to gain machine guns as well. The English were given two machine guns, the Russians were given eight, and the Germans eventually had six.
In the end, after the Americans had joined in, each soldier's artillery was given a machine gun.
In the end, after the Americans had joined in, each soldier's artillery was given a machine gun.
Gas: Gas was a very unsuccessful system of weapon. They were first used in the trenches to annihilate the rival, but it also took a turn in events. Instead of the gas going towards the rivals, the wind would blow it back to the ones who shot it and it would kill them. So, in order for them not to die, they started to where masks that would protect them from the gas, when the wind blows it back to them.
Tanks: The first country to bring a tank to the war was Britain. During the war, the tanks would start to travel into dead man's land, which was "No man's land," but most of the men were dead at that point, and the tanks would break down very easily, not because they would get shot at, but because they got stuck in the mud. These tanks would blow up anything that would get in their way, so they were very destructive. They were only able to do that if they made it out of the war zone without breaking down due to technical issues.
LIFE IN THE TRENCHES
Life in the trenches was not easy, they had to deal with food shortage, cleaning everything up, getting stuck in the mud, watching everything at night, and making sure that they have everything lined up like it should be. Somehow, some of these men managed to survive, but the rest died a terrible way.
The picture shows soldiers. The soldiers are resting and getting cleaned up. It is important because they have just been in a time of war. It shows us that they are in a trench hiding from their enemies.
